LIQUOR LICENCE AUTHORITY

A liquor licence is to provide proof that any establishment and/or event is in compliance with all of the Liquor Licence Act 1974. The Authority consist of six persons appointed by the Minister of Legal affairs with a Chairman as its head.

    Functions of the licensing authority the functions of the licensing authority are:
  • To receive, consider and determine applications for liquor licences or renewal of liquor licences,
  • To maintain a register containing a record of the liquor licences granted under the Act,
  • To advise the Minister of any policy matters, including the total number of licences granted, and matters related,
  • To this Act and its administration,
  • To make recommendations to the Minister on any matter, including policy matters, related to this Act and its administration,
  • To assist the Minister in the formulation of policies and strategies relating to this Act and its administration,
  • To make periodic reviews of the Act for the purpose of making recommendations to the Minister as to any necessary amendments to the Act.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

A liquor licence is only required if it is a for profit event or if there is a cost associated with entry or the purchase of liquor.

The cost of a licence varies according to the application made. The price may vary between $375 to $4,000. More information about fee can be ascertained with in the portal.

From receipt of application and review by the authority an application can take up to one week or more for processing depending on the type of application being applied for.

THE LIQUOR LICENSING AUTHORITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT AN APPLICATION IF IT IS SUBMMITED TO THE AUTHORITY IN LESS THAN THE REQUIRED TIME OF 3 WEEKS.

From the time the application is submitted a temporary licence will take three weeks to be approved.
As long as they are not served drinks, drinking and are with a guardian; there is no legal infractions.

LIQUOR LICENCE APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Determine which licence you will need.
  2. Complete application in entirety and submit.
  3. Submitted applications will be reviewed and discussed by the Authority.
  4. For any licence the falls into the Annual Licence category a hearing will be scheduled to be heard by the Authority.
  5. A decision will be made by the Liquor Licence Authority.
  6. If successful, notification will be sent and payment for the licence will be required.
  7. Once payment has been complete, the licence will be available to be download/printing.
